Faculty of Design and Innovation-CAD/CAM attended seminar on KISSsoft

More than 130 students of Faculty of Design and Innovation-CAD/CAM attended seminar on KISSsoft (Calculation Programs for Machine Design).
    KISSsoft AG develops design software for engineers and designers in a wide variety of fields: whether they manufacture cable car systems, gears for construction equipment, Formula 1 race car transmissions or the tiny gears used in Mars rovers, more and more companies all over the world have come to rely on KISSsoft design software.
      Students got knowledge on application and implementation of Gear Calculation software due to their knowledge on CAD/CAM Technology. Which they are learning in our training program. Also they knew about the current trends and technologies used in product development process of Gear, Bearing and shaft.

visit to Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Power Plant, Ropar

Mechanical Engineering 3rd Semester students, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, (FoET) visited Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Power Plant, Ropar.  Starting from the scratch they got to about the power generation with the coal, they were briefly explained about the whole procedure of production of electricity starting with unloading of the coal followed by its crushing procedure, and at last for the final processing of powered form of coal in the furnace. They visited coal unloaded section, crusher section (Primary and secondary), furnace section, turbine & Generator section and CFT plant. This visit helped the students in better understanding of the thermodynamics cycle’s concepts they are studying in their current semester.

MOU between GNA University and NIIST on Skill Development & Research

GNA University and NISST signed an MOU for the upliftment of skills in the steel based sectors of melting and processing, education and research at GNA University on November 14, 2015.The MOU was signed between Dr. RK Bagchi, Director NISST and Dr. Prem Kumar, Vice Chancellor GNA University. The MOU will help in establishing the skills and filling in the gaps in the state of Punjab, which has been the objective of both NISST and GNA University, said the Vice Chancellor Sir. S Gurdeep Singh, the Pro Chancellor expressed his extreme happiness on signing up of the MOU. He said that the MOU has been very timely and will open many vistas for the youth of Punjab. Dr. P Thareja, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology recounting the needs of MOU, accented the shortage of Metallurgical Professionals and how the existing emphasis has divulged a way to Material Science. Activists of the two organizations were introduced by Mr. Yogesh Sharma and Dr. R Srivastava. Er. RK Bagchi, Director NISST expressed hope for the synerization of the two stately knowledgeable partners for the development of capable professionals. He even accented on the modernisation of technology vis-a-vis Chinese Model.

GNA University Celebrates “International Animation Day”


GNA University celebrated the 140th birth anniversary of S Vallabh Bhai Patel on October 31, 2015

GNA University celebrated the 140th birth anniversary of S Vallabh Bhai Patel on October 31, 2015. The event was celebrated as a tribute to the Iron Man of India. Students from all the streams delivered presentations, speeches and showed a short documentary film to the GU students, acquainting them about the life history and contribution of this strong leader in the Indian society. Mr Sunil Sarad, the Registrar of the University illumined the minds of the students through a short short from the life of the dynamic personality. S Gurdeep Singh, the Pro Chancellor of the University acknowledged the participants with a small token of love and inspired the students to learn more from the life history of such enigmatic personalities who have been and will be the strong pillars of our Nation. The event was followed by a charitable lunch been prepared by the students of the Hospitality as commemoration to the Iron Man of India.

Poster Exhibition on Gender Discrimination

Violence against women has been an age old maxim. No doubt, we live in a democratic country, still eradication of gender discrimination is the need of the hour. Keeping this hot issue in mind, the Faculty of Languages organized a poster exhibition on gender discrimination under UGC nominated Gender Champion Club. The students from all the streams exhibited their views and ideas on gender sensitizing issues like female foeticide, female infanticide, female harassment and domestic violence as some of the burning issues prevalent in our Indian society. S Gurdeep Singh, the Pro- Chancellor of the University, was over whelmed to see the hard endeavors been put on the posters on violence against women. He is hopeful that in the times to come our GU students would act as a strong pillar of support to eradicate this routed evil from our society. Dr. Disha Khanna, head of Faculty of Languages thanked the worthy Pro-Chancellor for inspiring the students to unleash their latent feelings related to gender discrimination.

Getting Started: A Research Initiative at GNA University

GNA University organized an FDP on “Getting Started: Research: An Introduction” October 24, 2015. Dr. Govinder Flora, Dean Academics, highlighted the need of research in teaching and learning process. He apprised the faculty members as how they can start with research in their respective areas of interest. He believed that one should take research to get solution to a problem, generation of new knowledge and explanation of new phenomenon.  

He also explained various types of research viz. fundamental, applied, primary and secondary, that the research process should be deeply taken into consideration bypassing Plagiarism asit leads to withdrawal, reprimand and ineligibility. He emphasized that the best way to begin in the field of research is to undertake some reading. He also threw light on how to seek grants for research. Dr. Prem Kumar, Vice- Chancellor, GNA University emphasized that learning at GU is project oriented and teaching is research oriented by highlighting some of his real life experiences. S Gurdeep Singh, Pro Chancellor strongly announced that GNA University is always ready to fund young researchers in unleashing their research talent.

Faculty /Staff Buiding Connect With Gna Group

The University faculty and staff enjoyed an industrial ordeal at GNA Duraparts on October 21, 2015. The facult and staff got a live chance to gain hands on experience of making the GNA products. The success story of GNA Group was left an indelible impression on the minds of the faculty and staff through the presentation by the HR of the GNA Group. 

The sole motto of the visit was to build a strong connect with the organization with whom the faculty and staff is working was strongly established. The CEO of the GNA Group and Pro-Chancellor of the GNA University, S Gurdeep Singh was overwhelmed in building an emotional tie and strong bondage among his employees. The faculty and staff extended their heartfelt gratitude for making them feel proud about the organization they are working and connected for. 

Mind Your Language: English Speaking Day at GNA University

Communication in English language is the need of the hour to be successful at the global front. Looking into the import of English Speaking, the Faculty of Languages at GNA University observed “Mind Your Language: English Speaking Day on October 16, 2015. The faculty and staff participated with full interest. The event was conducted in the form of an activity in which the faculty and staff who bags the maximum slips at the end of the day will be declared the winner. Mr Varinder  Rana from Faculty of Hospitality and Ms Priyasha  from the IT staff won accolades by securing the maximum number of slips. 

The Vice- Chancellor, Dr Prem Kumar expressed, “Great project! I am happy to see the enthusiasm among the GNA members to participate in a worthwhile activity”. Dr Disha Khanna, Head of Faculty of Languages thanked the faculty and staff for being a great participant and asserted the GNA family to carry on the same enthusiasm of conversing in English among their students as well. S Gurdeep Singh, the Pro-Chancellor of the University felt overwhelmed and said, “It is a wonderful endeavor. I want my GNA family to be well- conversant, so as to be the pioneer among the global market”.

Phoenix FCS Club organized an activity for Bachelors & Masters students of FCS. The main motive was to enhance the student’s skills and performance, teach them leadership and team management skills by making them plan and organize activities like  IT Quiz, Fun Games and Student presentation on latest technologies, Group discussion and Problem solving, Research and presentations, Interview skills and finding new events in local institutions, Creating blogs & FCS student newsletter & Best practices to design a website. Phoenix FCS organized Open IT quiz, Movie on Google office, Motivational movie (What is life).The students really witnessed the activities with great enthusiasm and wished to have more in the times to come.

Faculty of Business Studies organized an industrial visit to GNA DURAPARTS LTD. MEHTIANA on 1th October, 2015 for BBA Semester I. The industry is equipped with world-class resources and expertise to manufacture a wide range of gear, gear boxes and allied products for a variety of automobile applications. The main objective behind the visit was to make students aware about the various manufacturing components and processes. It provided students with an exposure to current work practices and with an opportunity to learn practically through interaction. It was an informative visit.

Industrial visit to Living India News Channel, Mohali

Students of B.Sc.3rd Semester and M.Sc. 1st Semester visited Living India News Channel, Mohali on October 16, 2015. Students got a live chance to learn about the studio setup and work flow in the news channel. They have learned about news studio setup, news anchoring, news and video editing, broadcasting the signals and lots of other things related to the news channel industry. Students got the hands on training in all the technical fields and are hopeful for many more such visits.

Faculty of Computational Science organized a Guest Lecture on "Big Data Analytics and Hadoop" at GNA University (8-10-2015) by Dr. Ashutosh Mishra , Assistant Professor, Thapar University, Patiala. He holds a strong practical knowledge-how of Big Data. He is PhD from IIT-BHU with 10 years of academic and industry experience. He shared his views on architecture of Hadoop and terminologies of Big Data. He also interacted with all the faculty members of FCS regarding latest technology trends in Big Data and related fields.

Research Project of CII-FACE in association with NABARD

Students from MBA give assistance in research project under taken by CII-FACE in association with NABARD. The objective of it is to study the Custom Hiring Centers (CHC) for farm machinery in different states of India (providing farm machinery on rent to farmers). They learnt from this research that what type of machinery and services are provided by these societies to the farmers. These societies are very helpful and useful for the farmers. Farmers who cannot buy all type of machinery for the farming, because it is very costly. So they are taking machinery on less amount of rent from the societies according to their needs. The machinery includes tractor, trolley, rotavator, tiller, cultivator, drill, etc. The rent is fixed by the society and less from other private society. Students were visited different district of Punjab (Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Jalandhar).In each district they covered 2-3 societies of CHC where they meet with the president of the society and the members of the society. At each society their target is to meet 10-15 farmers and fill the questioners. They asked the questions to the farmers and fill the questioner. The questions are like: how much land they have, which services and machinery they are taking from the society and why, what difficulties they are facing while taking the services, what suggestions they want to give etc.

Faculty of Computational Science celebrated Engineers Day at its inaugural function of the club “PHOENIX”. The students of Master’s Degree participated in various events like Quiz, Sharing of Knowledge on current topics etc. A motivational movie was also a part of the event in which an autobiography of Indian player, Ms. Arunima Sinha who is the first female amputee to climb Mount Everest. The motivational speech encouraged the students in learning on how to overcome the difficulties while achieving their goals. The movie inspired them to learn that hard work is the key to success and nothing can be left undone if there is a strong determination to achieve the set goal.The winners of Quiz team were rewarded by the Dean of FCS and all the Faculty members.

Faculty of Hospitality arranged a Guest lecture and Interviews for Internship

Faculty of Hospitality arranged a Guest lecture and Interviews for Internship and Placement for students of BSc HM 3rd and 5th Semester. Mr Akash Kapoor (Assistant Manager - Learning) from HYATT Regency, Ludhiana addressed the students and shared his experience with all the students. Mr. Kapoor had interviewed the students for their winter internship and placement and selected  7 students for the winter internship to work for Hyatt Regency, Ludhiana.




Faculty of Business studies organized a "MANAGEMENT MUMMY RETURNS" Contest

Like Egyptians believe in life after death our students from the department of Faculty of Business Studies - BBA,BCOM (A,B) and our MBA put together a fascinating show of Mummies that left our audiences spell bound.Over 80 students participated in the contest and brought to life some of the world's eminent Management Gurus who are no longer with us such as Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru,Chanakya,FW Taylor, Sam Watson,Mother Teresa, CK Prahalad, Dr BR Ambedkar They seem to create magic in 70 minutes to wrap the mummies in sheets of newspaper in contrast to actual Mummification that takes a span of 70 days to complete the process. The Winner of the contest was Corporate Chanakya and first runner up were Sam Watson and Second Runner up was Dr. BR Ambedkar; students were awarded gift coupons as prizes.

GNA University bags Best ATC- North 2015 Award from PTC University USA


‘’GNA University, Faculty of Design and Innovation –Phagwara’’ was awarded as “Best ATC-North -2015’’ for their outstanding delivering systems to the students by Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC) University USA at award ceremony held at JW Marriott New Delhi. This was presented by Stefan Helf (VP Global education program – PTC University USA), Mr Kamal Batra (Director PTC University academic Program India) and Ajinkya Lad, Senior Program Manager. On receiving the award, Mr.Chitta Ranjan Tripathy, Dean Faculty of Design and Innovation-CAD/CAM and Mr.Neeraj, authorized trainer-Creo of GNA University presented a view about training practices, Methodologies and practical application in the Industry adopted in CAD/CAM Programme which was appreciated by the guests and conferred as best training practice.
During his speech Stefan Helf (VP Global education program – PTC University USA) appreciated to GNA University for using industrial live projects, Digital Manufacturing system and RPT (FDM) technology as a part of CAD/CAM curriculum advancement to meet future challenges of globalization and economic development. He showed his gratitude and words of thanks to Mr.Gurdeep Singh, ‘Pro Chancellor GNA University and CEO, GNA Gears Ltd., Punjab for his consistent perseverance and valuable contributions to the success of ATC program and for imparting excellence in certified training in CAD/CAM.

Nutrition Week celebration at GNA University

Dr Sanjeev Vyas (Diet and Nutrition Consultant) from Ricela, Sangrur shared the importance of edible oils in our routine cooking. Dr Gaganpreet Kaur (BDS MIDA, Dietitian and Nutrition expert) from Ludhiana had taken the BMI (Body Mass Index) Workshop with the students and faculty from GNA University. Students prepared nutritional menu and presented the posters and models regarding Nutrition awareness.

In this workshop, students learned how to make creative characters using waste material. Students also made wonderful Characters uses of the waste material provided to them during workshop under guidance of Mr. Intekhab Alab.

GNA University in association with CII-Yi Ludhiana chapter organized a session on ‘Digital Marketing Mystified’ for MBA students at its campus. Mr Vipul Trehan Sr Marketing Manager -The Gilead Group Plc. USA conducted the session in which he explained the basic concepts of digital marketing. He emphasized on how small businesses can take benefit from new marketing options, how they work, and financial results. Rapid Prototyping using FDM Technology

Students of Faculty of Design and Innovation attended training on 3D Printing using FDM Technology. Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) is the technique of product development by the deposition of extruded material in the form of fused matter. The molten material is deposited layer by layer in steps to complete the model.3D Printing is the concept of faster and reliable product design and development using the CAD models imported through various Design Platforms. The technology promises faster development of product for aesthetic and fitment verifications before actual manufacturing of the Molds & Dies.

GNA University organizes National Conference

GNA University organized NationalConferenceon Sustaining and Enhancing Competitiveness in Today's Business Scenario'on 21stMarch 2015 in which 350 eminent research scholars and industry experts participated. Mr. Rajiv Chawla, Chairman Jairaj Group, Faridabad and Chairman IMSME India presided over the conference as Chief Guest and DrRavinderVinayak Director DSPSR, Ex Dean Academics and HOD Maharishi Dayanand University, Dr. Balwinder Singh, Professor Commerce Department, GNDU graced the occasion with their presence as Guests of Honor. Mr. Chawla stressed on the importance of team work to achieve organizational goal and congratulated GNA University management for conduct of such a successful conference. According to himentrepreneurs should find blue oceans for exploring new opportunities. 





Dr. Vinayak shared his experiences about sustainability in current business scenario. Dr. Balwinder Singh told how there is difference between vision of Bharat and India and how we should take steps to improvise the systems.
