Violence against women has been
an age old maxim. No doubt, we live in a democratic country, still eradication
of gender discrimination is the need of the hour. Keeping this hot issue in
mind, the Faculty of Languages organized a poster exhibition on gender
discrimination under UGC nominated Gender Champion Club. The students from all
the streams exhibited their views and ideas on gender sensitizing issues like
female foeticide, female infanticide, female harassment and domestic violence
as some of the burning issues prevalent in our Indian society. S Gurdeep Singh,
the Pro- Chancellor of the University, was over whelmed to see the hard
endeavors been put on the posters on violence against women. He is hopeful that
in the times to come our GU students would act as a strong pillar of support to
eradicate this routed evil from our society. Dr. Disha Khanna, head of Faculty
of Languages thanked the worthy Pro-Chancellor for inspiring the students to
unleash their latent feelings related to gender discrimination.
